UBX Cloud co-founder and partner Igor Petrovski, who has been with the company since its inception in 2008, recognized the moment when he knew the venture was going to be successful.

“This kind of started when I went to a data center and got one rack queue of space – mainly for myself – but eventually it involved family members who had the need for IT services,” Igor recalls. “So we started using that for hosting for people we know. But when we started signing on some big clients, including a couple of automotive ones, that’s when we knew this was going to shift from a hobby to something more than that.”

Serving today in the role of data center architect, Farmington Hills, Michigan resident Igor complements his then-and-now partner Steve Panovski with a technical sense that works well with Steve’s strong acumen for sales and customer service.

“Steve’s technical too, but in a different way,” Igor says.

Igor’s primary day-to-day role is in operations, including a lot of emphasis on networking infrastructure as well as involvement with sales quoting.

That’s part of a broader companywide philosophy that values everyone’s willingness to pitch in wherever they can.

“We’re small, so we don’t have the luxury of having people just specialize in one thing,” Igor says. “We all have to learn a lot.”

Prior to working with Steve on the founding of UBX Cloud, Igor worked as an architect for virtualization for a managed service provider. That gave him a pretty good sense of the companies that were working in the sector, and he had confidence that UBX Cloud could fill a critical need.

“There was a demand among a lot of small businesses and small clients, to give them a product like full-redundancy backups and all-in-one solutions, as opposed to having some IT guy manage their servers locally and deal with all the issues they would deal with if they had something on-premises,” Igor says. “We knew we had an opportunity where we could deliver the product. And even now, you have your Amazons out there but all you get from them is the infrastructure. You still need people doing everything else.”

And that’s what the team at UBX Cloud does – managing the full process, watching out for issues, troubleshooting and staying a step ahead of anything that might occur.

Igor saw the potential back in 2008. Today he’s a critical part of what proves each day that the founding of UBX Cloud was just what the market needed.
