We recently shared a team member profile of one of our systems engineers, Phil Simjanovski. As we read that profile (yes, we read our own blog!), it occurred to us that Phil is a good example of what sets UBX Cloud apart from much of the competition – and certainly from the behemoths like Amazon and Google to whom we affectionately refer as Big Cloud.

When we hired Phil, he didn’t even have a formal background in IT. He loved computers and tinkered with them constantly, but his work experience had all been in other fields.

What attracted us to Phil was his determination to understand things, figure out challenges and solve problems. He loves doing that, and it’s something our customers need.

Sure, we had to train him on some of the high-level nuances of what we do, but we didn’t have to train him on the principles of great customer service because Phil came to us wired to care about that.

Big Cloud does not serve you. These companies do not solve your problems, nor will they spend one second even caring that you have one. Their whole business model is based on convincing you that only they have the capacity to provide cloud storage for your data, and that when they overcommit and you suffer loss of access, you just have to accept that this is how it goes in cloud storage.

Service? Ha! Theirs is not a world where that exists.

And it grieves us because too many companies with real data storage needs are convinced they just have to accept this proposition. They don’t even realize there are local alternatives available who not only have plenty of storage capacity, but will also answer your calls and pull out all the stops when it’s necessary to solve your problems.
